Valais Blacknose twin ram lambs.jpg

Located on 50+ acres, together with our 6 children, we raise spectacular Valais Blacknose Sheep, excellent pedigreed Nigerian Dwarf Goats, and more.  Integrity, quality, and heart goes into the breeding and raising of all our animals.  We started our adventure with Valais Blacknose Sheep after extensive research and preparation for these beautiful sheep to join our farm in 2023. We have been raising Nigerian Goats for years and the Valais Blacknose Sheep was a special and welcome addition to our family farm.

Where do I begin with Valais?

Determine your goal.

Are you hoping for a pet or do you want to start and breed your own flock? Note, there will be a big difference in cost based upon your answer to this first question. You can find lower cost pet quality wethers (castrated rams) for a pet, but if interested in a breed up or fullblood/purebred it will be an investment. If desiring to start your own flock, decide if you want to start with a more budget friendly option through a breed up program or jump in with both feet and start with purebreds. Be mindful of your experience level with livestock. If you plan to invest in these beautiful creatures, you want to become educated on their care.

Do some research. Check out breeder websites and registries to learn more. Be mindful as in any animal breeding, breeders will have different opinions on how to breed, feed and care for the Valais. Be respectful of breeder opinions, but also understand everyone will have their own version of what is best based upon their experience. It's not a one size fits all.

Investment involved.

It can vary greatly. Our Valais are priced based on their quality and genetics. We cannot quote an exact price until our lambs are born. It will be determined based on their breed up generation (F1, F2, F3, etc.) as well as conformation, markings, and bloodlines. This means the prices will vary. Breed ups will be priced lower than full bloods, but will increase as they become closer to the full blood status. A full-blood ram can range from $9,000 to $20,000 and a full-blood ewe from $12,000 to $25,000.

Waitlist.

Realize we are a busy family of 8, but we are happy to find time to connect and answer as many questions as possible prior to purchase. We don't accept deposits until lambs are on the ground because we want to be sure we will have a healthy, quality Valais to offer. We are happy to add your name to a waitlist to be notified when lambs are born for purchase options. The best way to be on the top of the list is to reach out and call Lydia. Preferably only call if you have serious inquiries about purchasing from us 330-465-0203. She's typically most available evenings and weekends.
